Evaluation

Management of production
I think that my management of production went pretty well and i got all of my filming and editing done on time for the deadline. At the beginning I started planning my social action documentary and what I was going to do for it.  I had a hard time deciding which topic I should do for my social action documentary. At the beginning i was going to do traffic but i decided to do bullying from just texting but decided to add social media as well. After this I researched a little bit more about the topic and then I started to plan out a questionnaire which I had to put together such as the age range and other things which would be able to help with my social action documentary. After I completed my questionnaire I printed about 10 out and handed them out to different people around the college to get a variety of answers. I also did some secondary research to find out of more information and stories of people who have already been bullied to show what other people has already been through. With the secondary research I had to complete a bibliography to show where I got all of the information from because I needed evidence. After this i started creating a storyboard to show what my documentary is going to look like i would know what i am doing and after this I had to decide when i was filming and who will also be in my documentary because I needed to borrow a camera for part of the documentary. For example I needed to use a camera in my media lessons to film parts such as interviews and background of the college. With this I had to create a production blog so we are able to keep track of when we filmed and what shots so we know what we had to film and when my actors are free to film. Each time I imported the footage onto the Mac and started editing so it put less pressure on myself. I used iMovie to edit my documentary. Also while i was editing I found some sound effects which would fit well with the documentary and also I found music for the background of the documentary. I chose Sam Callahan Bigger Things because i thought it would go well and it would match the theme of the documentary which was bullying. I believe that the editing went smoothly and I was able to finish edit except at one point while I was trying to import footage into a file onto iMovie it said I wasn't able to because the storage was full. After this i exported the video and uploaded it onto Youtube where i was able to have it on my blog where everyone was able to watch it. Overall I believe the product went smoothly even though there were a few errors and I didn't get that many clips of me asking people as I wasn't too confident going out and asking people. If i could do this again i would of done more research and ask more people to be in the documentary to b able to get more data.

Constraints experienced
Some constraints was that I wasn't confident enough to go around and ask random people. This was hard for me to ask people because I don't like to go out and ask people because i can come across shy when I don't know someone and also some people might not want to answer the question  Also that I wasn't quite sure about what I wanted the video to look like and what questions I was going to ask for my questionnaire. I wanted the questions to help me with my documentary and it was hard to think of some without repeating myself. With this I was limited with the age range i asked because i didn't go out in public to ask people. With having limited of footage my documentary wasn't that long.

Audience feedback
In class we all watched of our videos back so we were able to see what everyone did and how well they think the documentary is. Here are some of the comments which I received back. The first comment was that it was good but I should of added more interviews and the background music should of been a bit quieter and parts I wasn't able to hear the clips. Another comment is that the I should of made it longer as my video was only 2 minutes long and there should of been less writing and more people speaking into it.

Production Diary

Production diary
At the beginning we research topics which we could do our documentary on and on a word document we wrote down a list of possibilities. Afterwards we had to decide on which one we wanted to do. First i chose to do traffic within the area but then after further research i decided to change my mind and decided to do bullying. At first i chose bullying on text then decided to expand to do social media as well. Before I started filming in December I created a storyboard so I would have a good idea on what the documentary was going to look like. The storyboard was 8 shots because it was shortened down as i wasn't 100% sure on everything.  Starting from the 4th December i started to film. On this day i filmed during my media lesson and it was establishing shots of the college which i thought would be appropriate for the topic. For example I did a pan of the a classroom which can show that people are alone. I filmed during my media lessons because this was the time I was able to but also when I was able to get some editing down because of the Mac that i use and it is on the desktop. The next time i filmed was on the 7th December and I started to film more shots and started to ask people my questions for my documentary but I didn't believe that the footage wasn't the best which is why it wasn't in the documentary. On the 11th December I went onto freesound to find some sound effects which would match. Also on this day I was searching for a song to put in the background and the song i decided on is Sam Callahan Bigger Things which i got from Youtube and the converted it into an MP4. I believed this describes the video very well.  On 18th December part of my documentary has been filmed but also edited of it. It is now January and I decided to film more shots such as my parts as I am answering some of the questions and I decided to film these clips on my camera. One of these clips didn't let me put it into iMovie but then I got someone to help me and was able to get the clip onto iMovie which i needed. By the end of January I finished editing my movie and then i exported it and put it onto Youtube so we were able to watch it and able to put the video onto blogger. After we did this we started to watch all of our documentaries in class but also writing our evaluation on how everything went and feedback we got from other students on how they think our documentary is.
